Dear Brothers & Sisters,
As times of great uncertainty are upon us, Local 91 will continue to support and update our Members. Our number one priority is to ensure our Member’s safety and the safety of your families. We must also work together to ensure our livelihoods are protected, and for those working through the crisis to deliver essential services to Canadians, that we work with our Employers to develop and maintain the best safe practices. There is no script to this crisis that continues to evolve as each minute passes. We are committed to providing you the information to make the best possible choices.
If a Member tests positive for COVID – 19 and is under quarantine, but does not develop the illness, or if a person goes into self-isolation, please ensure you communicate with your Employer and / or Human Resources Department. Your Employer and / or Human Resources contact should be able to advise you of the next steps which may include:
· Submit a claim to your insurance / benefit carrier;
· Submit a claim to EI;
· Seek other assistance programs;
Remember to document your Employer’s advice and follow all instructions as provided. Ensure you have accurate information and be aware of rumours or false information.
In the event you do not have access to benefits, please see Bulletin #3 which provides how to make a claim for EI.
Stay safe and strong.
